West Bromwich Albion have officially sacked Steve Bruce as manager following their 0-0 home draw with Luton Town on Saturday.
The Baggies currently lie 22nd in the Championship, their lowest league position in over 20 years, with their only win in the campaign so far coming against Hull City back in August.
Bruce, who took over from Valerien Ismael in February of this year, steadied the ship last season and guided West Brom to a 10th place finish in England’s second tier, but results this season have been deemed subpar.
In an official club statement, West Brom have said: “West Bromwich Albion have today parted company with Manager Steve Bruce. Backroom staff Steve Agnew, Stephen Clemence and Alex Bruce have also left The Hawthorns.
“The club would like to place on record its thanks to Steve Bruce and his coaching staff for their efforts since arriving in February.
“Under-21s coach Richard Beale will oversee first-team affairs on an interim basis, assisted by James Morrison and Gary Walsh.
“The process of recruiting a new Manager is now under way and an appointment will be confirmed in due course.”
