PREVIEW: Luton Town vs Cheltenham Town

Cheltenham Town manager Gary Johnson says he is “looking forward” to facing league leaders Luton Town, as his side head to Kenilworth Road on Saturday.

The Robins lie in 16th place, with a gap growing between themselves and the top half of the table after winning one in their last six.

Luton lead League Two by five points and have scored the most goals this year, whilst also conceding the 2nd fewest in the division.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Johnson said that “they’ve (Luton) scored 72 goals. They create lots of opportunities and they’ve got players that can finish those opportunities.

“They’re a first division side in the waiting and they’ve proved that many, many times this season.

“They are a dangerous side, especially at home but away as well. I’m looking forward to it.”

Johnson also has a full squad, with no injuries or personal circumstances refusing anyone from selection – including all seven of their loanees, leaving Johnson with a selection headache:

“I have to leave 2 out but they know that. I’ve spoken to them all and they’re all young lads.

“We had a midweek game so it could be that one or two are not used to the schedule.

“They came here on the expectation that there may be more than what you’re allowed, therefore maybe one or two may have to step out.

“They all know and understand.”

Cheltenham centre-half William Boyle echoed his manager’s views, saying “they’ve scored 72 goals. That is outrageous.

They’ve got goals from all over the pitch, they’ve got front men who are prolific. Goals from all over the pitch is vital, if your talisman isn’t scoring, then you can struggle.”

The Robins will be looking  for a repeat of the result when the teams last met, an exciting 2-2 draw at Whaddon Road.

Boyle scored a last gasp equaliser to frustrate the league leaders, and will be looking to ruin the party again on Saturday.
