Cheltenham travel north to the Mazuma Stadium to face Morecambe in EFL League One.
The Robins are on an inconsistent run currently, picking up five points in their last five games. They fell short to MK Dons earlier this week, losing 3-1 away from home.
Michael Duff has shared his frustration, talking about how not only their results have been inconsistent, but their performances too.
“Two minutes of madness killed us in the first half. We didn’t think we were brilliant on Saturday when we won 4-0 and we didn’t think we were terrible on Tuesday.
“There’s no lack of spirit, no lack of togetherness. 3-0 down and they are still running their hears out.”
Cheltenham face a Morecambe side that have not won in nine matches and currently sit in 21st in the league. When asked if their opponents form comes into play when selecting a squad, Duff made it clear that no formation was set in stone.
“We’ve played close to 40 games and I imagine in 35 of them we have played with two up front. I like playing with two centre forwards, there’s no getting away from that.
“Sometimes personnel and opposition dictate what you do.”
Cheltenham sit in 14th place, but just 12 points ahead of Morecambe, so it may prove to be a real six-pointer come the end of the season.
Although in a good position to stay up in the league, Duff still is wary that the season is far from over yet and is not letting his players get carried away with their league position.
“We can’t just go up there and ‘toy around with this formation’ or ‘bring in the kids’. We’re nowhere near that stage.
“There’s a forfeit in every training session, we don’t do coasting. We have to be flat out and it’s been proved this season that when we haven’t been, we’ve been beaten.”
The Robins beat Morecambe 3-1 earlier this season, but Duff has reiterated that he or his players will not let it affect their focus and will be heading into the game with it out of their minds.
“It’s a completely different game, they played a back three, we were back four that game. Different manager, different way of playing, different philosophy.”
“We know them anyway so I don’t think the previous games count for anything, but we know what we’re in for.”
Cheltenham travel to face Morecambe before turning their attention to AFC Wimbledon next weekend.
