“It is disappointing, but the positive thing is that it was a positive performance and that we are moving in the right direction.

The right contact in the box or getting that lucky break would have seen us get a point, but that didn’t happen for us today” stated Davies.

Despite a loss, Tom Davies wanted to end the day with a positive outlook on the game and focus on using yesterday’s match as a lesson going into the next couple of games.

The former Wolves women manager believes: “I think for large spells we were good, and we moved the ball well and played for their press at times. I thought we needed a little bit of tweaking at half-time in terms of how we moved that ball.

I thought we created a lot of pressure towards that final pass and final ball. We just didn’t make that contact especially towards that last couple of minutes”.

He continued: “We played against a good side, Oxford have come off with a good start at the weekend know we came into it, we worked hard.

Like I said, I feel like we are good value for it and it’s unfortunate that we fell into the wrong area, but it’s a lesson to learn from so we take it”.

The Robinesses are currently positioned at eighth place on women’s national league table and are currently drawing with both Plymouth Argyle and Cardiff City with six points.

The Cheltenham manager is confident going into the next match where his team are set to play Billericay Town away, at the New Lodge Stadium.

Davies hinted to the fans that there will not be much different going into their next game, except that players will be refreshed to play which makes him hopeful for a positive result.

“It will be nice to have the weekend off again and let the players kind of recharge and then we will come back into training.

It won’t be too different, just without that pressure of having to get ourselves ready for a Sunday game. We will have a little bit of a break and go back to training as normal and go through the same processes.

We need to make sure that we are building on this performance and come out with a much better result. If we perform well and show consistency, we know that we will get the results in the end” ended Davies.
