Cheltenham Civil Service manager Stephen Holend admits that a trip to Woolaston is always difficult as he looks ahead to a tough battle this weekend.
Civis sit first in Northern Senior Division One, having an unbeaten start to the season.
They face Woolaston this weekend as they look to continue their title charge after the Christmas break.
Holend is happy with where they are in preparations. He said: “The numbers are good, people are keen and we seem in decent shape.”
Woolaston is seventh in the league, currently 15 points behind the hosts, but have only lost one home game all season.
“A trip to Woolaston is always difficult. We’ve never won out there.”
When the teams faced each other in the league this season, Civil Service beat them convincingly 5-1, with Stuart Midwinter bagging a brace.
The game will be a test of the travelling team’s character, and a chance to prove themselves worthy of the county leagues.
“It’s a place where you have to roll your sleeves up and do all the nitty gritty.”
Holend acknowledges that Christmas takes its toll on the player’s fitness, “I do expect to people to be breathing heavy after 50-60 minutes.”
The game starts at 3pm Saturday, 15 January at Woolaston Village Hall.
