BREAKING: Forest Green Rovers trip to Crewe postponed due to extreme weather conditions

Tomorrow’s game between Crewe Alexandra and Forest Green rovers has been postponed following a pitch inspection at Gresty Road.

A tweet from Crewe’s twitter addressed the cause of the postponement, ‘The Beast From The East’.

Forest Green Rovers were set to travel to Cheshire looking to keep their momentum going and extend their unbeaten run of four games (3 wins, 1 draw), but the heavy snowfall over the last two days has meant that the pitch is frozen over and is therefore unplayable.

Despite a good run of results, the game was set to be a challenge for The Rovers as their form on the road has been poor, picking up just 2 points in their last 8 away league games.

With the two teams sitting 19th and 18th in the table, level on points and only separated by goal difference, a win is crucial to both sides as they look to further their gap from the relegation zone.

The weather didn’t stop any training for Forest Green, as they went to Cirencester to train using the indoor 3G pitches. Rovers defender Dale Bennett spoke to the media earlier today before the canellation and said, “we’re preparing for Crewe as if it’s on”.

An official statement from Forest Green Rovers’ website stated that a new date for the fixture is still yet to be confirmed, but “tickets that have already been purchased for the game can be used for the rearranged date.”
