Bishop’s Cleeve Ladies prepare to face Cheltenham Saracens Women on the lookout for a win

Bishop’s Cleeve Ladies will be heading south to face Cheltenham Saracens Women this Sunday at The Big Local Stadium for the Gloucestershire County Women’s Football League.

The Miss Mitres are coming in from two consecutive seven-goal losses, while the Saracens won their last match, but tied one before.

There is a one-point difference between the two teams in the standings, but Bishop’s Cleeve have played three games less than Cheltenham. Cleeve stand in seventh place with five points, and Cheltenham in sixth with six points.

Last time both teams faced off back in September, the game ended with a 2-2 score, with goals from Leonie Gough and Leigh Mitchell for the Miss Mitres, and Jordan Burrows and Hannah Galpin for Cheltenham.

Lottie Winter, midfielder for Bishop’s Cleeve, shared her thoughts ahead of the game.

“We’re mostly just excited to get back to focusing on the league, our last two fixtures were both tough but it has been hard with how inconsistent our fixtures have been having weeks on and off.

We’ve been training well and are looking to find our form and bounce back. We know what we have to do and how we can perform so now we just have to put it into action.” Said Winter.

Though coming in from some considerable defeats, Bishop’s Cleeve are still in good form. Goalkeeper, Lexi Jones, showed off with her skills last game against Gloucester City Women in the Gloucestershire FA County Cup.

Saracens had a better result than Cleeve, winning 3-1 against Cirencester Town Ladies for the County Cup, with a brace by Hannah Galpin.

During that game, Saracens were far better than Bishop’s Cleeve during the first half, but the Miss Mitres were able to take the lead 2-0 with 25 minutes to go.

It went downhill from there for Cleeve, as three penalties went down for Cheltenham; they missed one and scored the last two, bringing them to a draw.

It was also announced that Cheltenham Town Women will be playing at Kayte Lane against Norwich City in the third round of the Women’s FA Cup, meaning Bishop’s Cleeve Ladies’ game next week will be postponed.

It will be a tough and competitive match for both teams, but a great game in the making nonetheless.
