After his first win in the Sydney International Andy Murray has eyes set on Nikoloz Basilashvili

Andy Murray is set to take on Nikoloz Basilashvili in the Sydney International later today, and the clash could be equated to David taking on Goliath.

The Scottish national is currently placed at 125th in the world rankings as of January 10, while Basilashvili sits at a towering 23rd place.

Despite his straight sets win in the first round of the tournament, Murray showed weakness in those sets, losing multiple points to Norwegian Viktor Durasovic; currently placed 340th in the world.

Murray’s run in the Sydney International could likely end soon, but it won’t be the end of Murray’s time in Australia as he is still a wild card in the Australian Open also currently taking place.

Seeding could even see Murray take on Novak Djokovic somewhere along in the tournament as brackets have yet to be formed.

The former number one actually spoke on the Djokovic situation recently: “Hopefully we’ll be able to concentrate on the tennis now.

“This is the first match I’ve won here in three years, I want to come off and talk about my tennis, not talking about situations like that.”

After earning his first win in Australia after three straight years, Murray isn’t phased by the threat of Basilashvili, the England national has his eyes set on winning the entire Sydney International.
