During the aftermath of yesterday’s cabinet meeting, Sir Keir Starmer made it clear he isn’t going to resign.
There has yet to be 81 Labour MPs backing one single candidate. If a change of leadership is imminent, who is going to take over the role?
It seems that Wes Streeting is the number one pick for the Labour Party.
There are rumours that he is going to challenge for Prime Minister tomorrow morning, but what do Cheltenham residents think about a change of Labour leadership?
The truth is – not a lot.
Since the election, it seems that it isn’t just the MPs that have lost faith in the current government.
Alan Knight, a local from Bath Road, said: “I have not got much faith in any of the political leaders at the moment. The country as a whole is a complete mess, they never seem to resolve anything.”
Brian Ashton, another Cheltenham resident, shared his outrage that “People are fed up with being let down”.

The concerns now are not just about who is in charge, but rather “whoever gets in there’s going to be no confidence straight away for the country.”
It is clear to see that residents of Cheltenham believe they were given a façade by the new Labour.
“People were let down because compared to old labour which were for the working classes this is totally different and people are expecting them to revert back to their old ways but unfortunately that wasn’t the case”.
Brian says, “I think a lot of people who voted to get them in are probably regretting it now”.
He stated that, “Somebody else has to go in and pick up the pieces and that’s going to take years”.
Cheltenham residents have a lack of hope on whoever replaces the Prime Minister because “They’ll just revert to exactly the same thing as what Starmer’s been doing”.
This is an issue that affects the entire of the UK, but the people of Cheltenham have had particularly strong views on it and have expressed their dissatisfaction.
“We just hope that things will change in the future”.
