Gloucester city’s Mike Cook is hopeful that his side can find their rhythm this weekend as they take on Walton and Hersham
Cook reflected on past weeks’ games, and remained positive about how his side played despite the loss.
“It didn’t have to be a defeat we created a number of chances” he states .
He believes that his sides lack of ability to finish is one of the main causes for the result.
“We’ve just had that happen a few too many times when we’re making lots of chances and not putting them away.”
The manager is adamant that Ed Williams will return, after missing last weekend’s game due to suspension. “Yes, he should be back, we will see how he trains tonight.”
Harry Pinchard will also miss Saturday’s game as he starts to recover from a leg injury, but Cook believes that he should be back in action very shortly.
“He looks like he is on the road back to full fitness,” as the manager remains hopeful of his return in the next couple of weeks.
Their opponents Walton and Hersham lie in 4th place in the league, with six points separating the two sides. The Gloucester city manager knows that this weekend will be a tough game ahead: “They are a very good team” he states as he remains aware of the challenges that his side face this weekend.
Walton and Hersham have only lost one in their last four games, whereas Gloucester City have not won in the last four games.
Despite that, Cook is adamant that he will not change the system or style of play.
“We don’t really want to change the system at the moment because that’s working really well, we just need to put it in the back of the net.”
For Gloucester the side they face this weekend will be coming into the game brewing with confidence after their 2-1 win over Sholing in their last match.
For Gloucester city a win would be vital as they sit in second place and three points behind leaders Merthyr Town in the Southern league premier south.
