“We are a team that’s learning” Chris Wilder after a frustrating 1-0 loss to Wolves which see the blades remain bottom of the Premier League table

It was a frustrating watch for Sheffield United fans as they once again disappointed this time away at Molineux in a 1-0 loss to the European hopeful Wolves.

It was a positive second half for the Blades but after failing to convert once again they now stare down the barrel of what is shaping up to be a campaign of survival.

“Frustration and criticism of the team is the big moments, the final moments because we had enough of the play, we regained the ball in good areas enough, we have to find that quality that they (Wolves) found in the first half, that they found at Tottenham, Chelsea and what we couldn’t find today at the Molineux.”

“I like to think we get a little more credit in terms of how we approached the second half and pushed them back but it’s no good making those recovery runs, intercepting, tackling, first and second balls, we did have momentum but when we did have the momentum there has to be something at the end of it , something clinical that gets a result out of something.”

Another loss in which Sheffield United looked like they could get a result, Wilder highlighted the pressures attached to playing in the premier league as they strive to survival from the drop.

“I believe we played well, there’s days where you play well and don’t get anything, there’s days where you don’t play well in other divisions and might get something, if you don’t play well in this division you don’t come away with anything but if you play okay to well then you have to come away with something and that is a criticism and frustration.”

One of the biggest talking points of the game was a clash between ‘Blades’ players Jack Robinson and Vinicius de Souza Costa, which saw VAR look at the incident that was shaping up to be a Keiron Dyer Lee Bowyer special, Wilder downplayed the scuffle which took attention away from the occasion of the game for Sheffield United.

“That happens at every football club up and down the country, about three or four times a year, of course you know I can’t condone it and it have to stay at a level, we have to acknowledge we have got a responsibility, but that happens behind the doors of every football team from Man City to a league two side.”

“VAR obviously spotted it as they spot everything else, for me it’s just move on pretty quickly as long as it doesn’t step over the line which I talked to the boys about.”

Wolves continued their turn around campaign as they won their eleventh game of the season, tying their total from last year, now European hopefuls, they look to continue their hot run-in form in the remainder of the season.

“They are really well managed and have some great players… We have to find that quality that they (have) found”

“If I had that group of players id expect us to be dominant in possession and be in the league position that they are, they just beat Spurs and Chelsea, I’d expect them to dominate the ball, however they set up to play they are still good players. “

Now eight points away from survival it looks to be a tough run till the end of the season for Sheffield United, where they’ll have to get points wherever they can.

“Well, they need to if they want to stay in the division, for us to get the relevant points. What I will say is I’d rather have them in that state of mind, but they have to get the balance right they have to take the desperation out of it a little bit , you know were all chasing games at sometimes and all desperately trying to gamble it and tactically change things around but when you are in that moment and you feel that coming then that’s when you really need to show that composure.”
