Fulham vs Manchester City: Pep Guardiola’s side look to extend lead at the top of Premier League

Manchester City will be hoping to recapture their winning run and continue their place at the top of the table they currently sit 14 points clear of.

The Citizens won their most recent match in a convincing 5-2 result against Southampton and you can read Park Life Sport’s match report here.

Before that impressive result however, Guardiola’s side lost their impressive 21 consecutive win record after a 2-0 defeat against bitter rivals Manchester United.

Meanwhile, Scott Parker’s side will be looking to continue on from their impressive away win against Liverpool as they bid to escape the relegation zone they are currently in only by goal difference.

Despite that, his side has been in impressive form as of late, picking up 12 points in the last seven games, in a move which will surely concern the likes of Newcastle and Brighton.

Parker was pleased with his side’s dominant performance in the game, and reflected the inevitable boost it will give his side.

“I think it always helps, you win matches and you get that extra belief not that we needed that. A club is always better when you come in on a Monday and you get a win. The players know they can go to a place like Anfield and get a result, the level of performances has always been there, it just comes down to results.”

However, Parker was quick to ensure his team remained realistic about their prospects against City, especially given the strength of players they possess.

“They have quality all over the pitch, they are a threat in every single moment of a game. We understand that, I thought Southampton started the game well but in a click of a finger, Man City are 1-0 up. I do understand the animal we are playing against and throughout the game we are going to have that focus and those are going to be very keen.”

In terms of team news, Fulham still have goalkeeper Marek Rodak unavailable, as well as Tom Cairney who are long term injury issues.

For Guardiola’s side, he is believed to have a fully fit squad at his disposal, although Sergio Aguero is not expected to start given his lack of football since his most recent injury.
