After sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjær, Manchester United are set to appoint Ralf Rangnick as interim manager until the end of the season, but who is the man set to be in the United dugout?
Playing career
Rangnick had a fairly modest playing career in his native Germany, playing for VFB Stuttgart II, VfR Heilbronn and Ulm 1846.
Standing at 5ft 11in, Rangnick was a defensive midfielder but has certainly felt more at home in the technical area than running the midfield.
Management Career
Rangnick has managed a number of clubs in the Bundesliga since retiring in 1988, with spells at VFB Stuttgart, Hannover, Schalke 04 and RB Leipzig.
While managing Hannover, he won the Bundesliga 2 in 2001-02, the biggest league title he has won so far, but he has also coached Schalke to runners-up in the 2004-05 Bundesliga season, where they lost the in final of the DFB-Pokal.
He did win the DFB-Pokal with Schalke in the 2010-11 campaign, as they ran out 5-0 winners against second tier side MSV Duisburg.

In his most recent management job at RB Leipzig, Rangnick once again guided his side to the DFB-Pokal final where they lost 3-0 to German giants Bayern Munich, as Robert Lewandowski scored a brace and Kingsley Coman also found the net.
Lokomotiv Moscow
In July 2021, Rangnick signed a three-year deal to be manager of Sports and Development for Lokomotiv Moscow in the Russian Premier League, where it looks like his time will be cut short to head to Manchester.
This role saw Rangnick operating above a head coach, a similar scenario to what is expected at the end of his time as interim manager in the north of England.
