“We’re looking to get as many points from the last six games,” Liam Sercombe on Cheltenham Town’s hopes for the season

Cheltenham Town midfielder Liam Sercombe has said the club are ‘looking to get as many points from the last six games’ as possible.

Cheltenham have defied the expectations of many so far this season, currently in 12th place in League One and on course for their best ever league finish.

The Robins have just six games of the season remaining, including key clashes against teams around them in the table.

Next up for Cheltenham is Accrington Stanley, who are just on league place being the Robins.

Should Accrington get the victory, they will leapfrog Cheltenham in the table, costing Michael Duff’s men some crucial prize money.

“We as players at the start of the season set an aim of what we want to achieve this season and we’re on track with that and just need to keep going. We’re looking to get as many points from the last six games,” revealed Sercombe ahead of Accrington Stanley away.

Key to their success has been star striker Alfie May who has managed 20 League goals for the Robins this term, more than double his best ever tally and the best ever tally by a Cheltenham player in League One.

Last time out, the Robins fell to a defeat against Sheffield Wednesday, losing 4-1 away at Hillsborough.

“I think to be fair we put in a good performance. We had a couple of chances at 2-1 that if we’d put away would’ve changed the game. It wasn’t really a 4-1 game. I thought the lads out in a good performance.”

The Robins will be looking to bounce back as quickly as possible so they can attempt to climb up the table.

However, it could be unlikely they climb any further up the table, being eight points behind Bolton in 11th.

Regardless of that, it is a record breaking season for the Robins and one that will put Duff and all his players in the history books of the club.
