The Cheltenham Festival is a horse racing meeting in the National Hunt racing calendar, with race prize money only second to the Grand National.

This incredible four-day festival held at the Cheltenham Racecourse hosts races such as The Cheltenham Gold Cup, Champion Hurdle, Queen Mother Champion Chase and Stayers Hurdle.

At what times are these races on?

Day 1 – Champion Day (Tuesday 11th of March 2025)

This day celebrates some of the finest Horses and Jockeys who are taking part in the Cheltenham Races.

The highlight of the day is the prestigious Unibet Champion Hurdle, a Grade 1 race over 2 miles, featuring the most skilled hurdlers in the world.

Day 2 – Style Wednesday (Wednesday 12th March 2025)

Style Wednesday is not only about the races, but this day also celebrates fashion as spectators are often seen going all out for this occasion.

Both Men and Women come to these races wearing their finest attire, which can often consist of suits, dresses and fancy hats.

Day 3 – St Patricks Day (Thursday 13th March 2025)

Not to be confused with the actual date of St Patrick’s Day (Monday 17th of March 2025) St Patrick’s Day for the Cheltenham Festival is a great outing for the Irish as they come in numbers supporting their favourite Irish Jockeys and Horses.

Day 4 – Gold Cup Day (Friday 14th March 2025)

The Cheltenham Gold Cup is the most prestigious race of the British and Irish jump racing season and the centrepiece of the Cheltenham Festival.

The Cheltenham Gold Cup is a Grade 1 National Hunt horse race run on the New Course at Cheltenham Racecourse in England, over a distance of about 3 miles 2½ furlongs (3 miles 2 furlongs and 70 yards, or 5,294 m), and during its running, there are 22 fences to be jumped.
