Tottenham’s Europa Conference League match against Rennes has been cancelled, UEFA has confirmed

UEFA have confirmed that Tottenham’s Europa Conference League match against Rennes has been postponed tonight, following a Covid-19 outbreak at the club.

This follows the news that eight first-team players and five staff members had tested positive for Covid, leaving manager Antonio Conte ‘scared’ for his squad.

Regarding UEFA’s regulations, games cannot be postponed unless the club has fewer than 13 registered players or if there’s no goalkeeper available.

All of the Europa Conference League group games must be completed by the end of 2021, meaning this postponement only adds to Spurs’ already busy Christmas schedule, with the London side already having six games scheduled before the end of the year.

Tottenham, who are currently level on points with Vitesse, must win against Rennes to have a chance of qualifying for the round of 32 after a disappointing last gasp defeat against NS Mura.
