Temporary double roundabout to be installed on the B4063

The junction before the roadworks

A double roundabout is to be installed at a problem junction on the B4063.

The junction, where the road meets Bamfurlong Lane and Old Gloucester Road, has had heavy traffic for days caused by four-way temporary traffic lights.

The lights will now be operated manually until the roundabouts are complete; which will then be replaced in April by permanent traffic lights.

The roadworks are part of a multi-year scheme by the council, which is intended to improve the cycle route along the road.

Councillor David Gray said, “We understand that the roadworks are inconvenient while the route is being built and appreciate everyone’s patience. The new double roundabout at Staverton will help to improve the flow of traffic and we will continue to monitor the situation to see if further improvements can be made.”

This section of the road will still be closed overnight until January 21, from 8pm to 6am on weeknights.

Further south on the road, at the junction with Innsworth Lane, a set of temporary lights have been removed, after it came out that they had not been approved by the council.
