Team GB have been dealt a massive blow as it was announced snowboarder Katie Ormerod would miss the 2018 Winter Olympic games, which starts in Pyeongchang today.
Despite being one of Great Britain’s best hopes of winning a medal, Ormerod will miss the games after severely fracturing her heel on Thursday. The 20 year-old also fractured her wrist on Wednesday.
It is now believed that Ormerod will undergo emergency surgery on Friday following the fracture. It would have been the youngster’s first Winter Olympics, having narrowly missed out, aged 16, in Sochi four years ago.
After dreaming of competing at the Olympics for years, I got there and received the most bad luck I’ve ever had! Broke my wrist but was determined to compete, but then I severely broke my heel into 2 pieces and having surgery in a couple of hours. Absolutely gutted! pic.twitter.com/6XuXmD7au3

Ormerod also made history at the age of 16, becoming the first female freestyler to land a double-cork-1080, which involves three rotations and two inverted flips.
The Brit admitted her disappointment of missing her first Winter Olympic Games via an Instagram post.
