Slimbridge AFC boss Tom Deakin believes playoffs are “achievable” for his side as they head into the second half of the season.
The Swans currently sit 11th in the Hellenic League Premier Division after 21 games on 31 points.
It’s been an interesting season for Deakin’s side as he explains: “It’s been as hit or miss as it could get. When you break down how we’ve done, when we’ve won we’ve won well, when we’ve been beaten we’ve been beaten badly.
“You can look at the Royal Wootton Bassett game where we lost six three, it wasn’t a bad performance but we were punished, in other games like against Corsham where we won five two and were very comfortable.
“It’s been very up and down and it’s just finding that consistency, it’s gone four games unbeaten, defeat. Four games unbeaten, defeat. So it’s just about getting past the four game mark.
“We’re the second highest scorers in the league, we’ve scored 67 goals at home this season, we’re definitely value for money.”
Slimbridge are just six points off the play-offs with 17 games to go as Deakin reflects on his goals.
“We’d be silly not to aim for play-offs, there’s 14 teams that all think they could get into the playoffs, is it achievable? Yes. Is it going to be a challenge? Yes.
“It’s been a good season so far but we’ve missed some big players, Charlie Hitchings has been out for a couple of months and so has Sam Blackie and they’re quite key to what we do.
“It’s meant that other players have had to step up, Theo [Clayson] is in the top five goal scorers in the league so he’s clearly one to look out for.”
Slimbridge have had a number of games postponed this season due to the weather, Deakin discussed the effect this has on the teams momentum.

“We’ve got into a rhythm of training Thursday playing Saturday so we can combat the postponed games by keeping fresh that way.”
Slimbridge face third place Roman Glass St George away from home tomorrow and Deakin believes it will be a tough game.
“We can’t seem to get over the line against them, we’re going into the game hoping to get at least a point.”
