Cheltenham Association Football League have announced the draw for the next round of the Senior Charities Cup and one tournament favourite will meet an early cup exit.
Whaddon United v Cheltenham Civil Service Reserves is the cream of the draw, with the respective leaders of the top two leagues facing each other in a big game for the cup.
Both sides have only lost once this year in the league and will not want to be shown up by their neighbouring league leaders.
Whaddon United last won the competition in 2005, with Civil Service’s winning it in 2017.
Another big tie in the tournament is Shurdington Rovers vs Hanley Swan FC.
Hanley Swan are second in Division One North, and will use this opportunity as a chance to push on and win silverware.
The side lost 4-2 to Civil Service in the league, so with either them or Whaddon knocked out, they will be considered second favourites going into the quarter finals.
Montpellier have drawn FC Lakeside, but don’t rule out the Division three side out yet.
Montpellier faced Division One side Bishops Cleeve Reserves on penalties in the last round, and after knocking out two Division Two sides in the different cups, they are standing out as the dark horses of the Cheltenham Leagues.
There’s other big ties such as AFC Kempsey v Kings, Gloucester Athletic v Fintan 1st and Generation Next v Kempsey Corinthians.
The games will be played on Saturday, February 5 and there’s sure to be some interesting football.
