Rob Edwards: Where The Former Forest Green Rovers Manager Could End Up Next

On May 11th 2022, Forest Green Rovers announced that their manager, Rob Edwards was to join Watford after negotiations between Edwards and Watford sparked controversy for its apparent unprofessionalism. There were question marks over how long Edwards would last at Watford, who in recent times have been known to be ruthless in terms of manager sackings. On September 26th 2002, Edwards was sacked by Watford after just 10 games in charge, picking up 14 points. Now, with plenty of second tier manager vacancies needing filling, where could Rob Edwards find his next role?

Cardiff City

Cardiff City shocked many fans on September 18th by sacking their head coach, Steve Morison. With Mark Hudson currently taking control of the first team, the club are still reviewing manager options.

After an impressive 1-1 draw to fourth place Burnley on Saturday, there is a good chance Hudson will be chosen as the next appointment, however, Edwards is seen as the next best option.

If Edwards were to join The Bluebirds, it would provide him with a chance to reunite with one of his promotion stars with Forest Green last season, Ebou Adams, who played 37 matched under Edwards in their historic season last year.

Bet Victor are currently offering odds of 2/1 for Edwards to be the next Cardiff City manager.

Middlesbrough

Just this very morning, Middlesbrough announced that they have terminated the contract of Chris Wilder, with the club currently sat in the relegation zone, after picking up just 10 points after 11 games.

After narrowly missing out on a play-off place last season, Middlesbrough will be looking for someone to drag them out of this rough patch and steady the ship, something that Edwards is more than capable of doing.

While he may still be a novice to the second tier, Edwards proved at Watford that he is comfortable in getting a respectable amount of points with a talented squad, and Boro’s team sheet boasts some well known Championship names!

Bet Victor are currently offering odds of 5/4 for Edwards to be the next Middlesbrough manager.

Hull City

Another recent sacking came in the form of Hull City dismissing Shota Arveladze of his duties after eight months in charge, after a string of four consecutive losses.

Hull don’t find themselves too much better of than Boro so far this season, as they sit just one point and two places above them, and also need a new manager to get them back on track.

Hull possess another squad full of talent, including Jean Michael Seri, who was one of the key men in Fulham’s Championship title winning season last year.

Bet Victor are currently offering odds of 25/1 for Edwards to be the next Hull City manager.
