Residents of Farmhouse Triangle reject housing bid

People from Farmhouse Triangle, located between Gloucester and Stroud, are against the proposed housing development plans which they feel goes against the ‘heart’ of the village – and is being constructed along the M5.

‘It’s a choice between allotments in one place or having a heart to our village.’ People have claimed that they would rather choose the heart, unconvinced by the Hunt Groves Parish Council that the changes will be of great benefit.

The justifications for opposing the housing bid have been summarised very clearly in the latest council meeting:

  • ‘To retain the farmhouse as a community asset. The outline approval allows this farmhouse to be demolished.’
  • ‘Having a home for the first new Gloucestershire Parish in 40 years.’
  • ‘Residents having shops in the village centre – and employment through offices.’

Arguments in the report for the housing bid claim the number of residents from 2,500 to 7,500 so every bit of space should be accounted for.

Any loss in landscape is considered acceptable given the total open space available around Farmhouse Triangle.

‘The development is a chance to gain something’ – as the housing bid will connect Farmhouse Triangle’s past to the new housing.
