‘He’s been stepping up this season and the question is how quickly can he get used to this level but he’s been excellent’ states Jon Dahl Tomasson.
Hayden Carter was playing regular League One football last season in the back line at Portsmouth. A memorable performance at Cheltenham Town back in April in a 1-0 loss stands out to the eye.
Stockport born Carter started his youth career at Manchester City, before moving to Blackburn Rovers’ youth team at the age of 15.

In the 2020/21 season during Covid-19 he went on loan to Burton Albion making 24 appearances scoring four goals.
Last season he was Portsmouth’s main man at the back making 22 appearances; with his class performances he has earnt his place at Blackburn this season filling in when needed.
His only goal for Portsmouth was voted goal of the season at the end of season awards for Pompey in what was a superb effort against Oxford United.

Blackburn remain one point behind sixth placed Watford with a game in hand so will be wanting to win games rather than drawing which is what happened against West Brom last night.
Carter has also made appearances in the FA Cup and League Cup; he will look to hopefully play against Premier League side Leicester City in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
With him starting the last three games Carter will feel established within the Rovers side and will look to keep that starting place after conceding just two in those three games he’s played.
Blackburn face Swansea and then Blackpool in their next two games in what they would consider vital in their race for promotion.
