Gloucester Rugby will welcome Harlequins to Kingsholm this Sunday in what will be the first game this season with fans in attendance. The Cherry & Whites will be hoping to win their first back to back game since September.
Both teams are heading into this weekend of rugby with victories in the previous round. Gloucester will be going into this fixture with confidence following a shock victory over Wasps last weekend.
Whilst Harlequins secured a 49-29 over Northampton Saints at Franklin Gardens, and have won their last four Premiership away games, and are currently leading for the most clean breaks made this season with 27 in total.
Kingsholm has become a fortress for the side, their only defeat at home since August was to Sunday’s visitors Harlequins. If history is anything to go by, the Londoners only defeat in the last four games against Gloucester came in March.
Ahead of the clash with Quins, selection is heating up at the Cherry & Whites for the No.10 shirt between young fly half Lloyd Evans and rugby veteran Danny Cipriani.
Both players have started a game for the hosts so far this season. Cipriani was not included in the matchday 23 last weekend to face former side Wasps.
Attack coach Alex King was impressed by Evans’ performance against Wasps last weekend, and told Gloucestershire Live:
“Everyone has to play to the standard we expect from Gloucester, Lloydy did that and we will choose the team we think will get us the victory.
“Everyone has to be up to the level to play, if Lloydy keeps putting in performances like that he will play.”
Sunday’s fixture will be a close encounter, with the two sides currently joint on five points, with Gloucester just ahead in the table by points difference.
