Gloucestershire locals have been reacting to the heart-warming story of a police dog who found a missing person on just his second night shift.
Users took to Facebook to express their delight with PD Soni, who found the youngster after the tale was posted two days ago (March 4 2026).

A vulnerable young person had gone missing from his care home, and his carers had no luck in searching for him, police said.
PD Soni was on just his second night shift as a licensed police dog when his handler received the message that the person was missing. PD Soni picked up the track from the last spotting and lead searchers to the woods.
A mile-and-a-half into the woods they found the vulnerable person and were able to call for backup to transport him back to the safety of his care home.
A Facebook post from Gloucestershire police detailing the incident quickly gained close to 4,000 likes and nearly 200 commenters, who were delighted to hear about the incredible work the dog had carried out.
“Well done soni ❤️ my dads police dog Ross was in the paper years ago for doing the exact same thing🥰 brings back memories! Dogs especially police dogs are truly AWESOME XXXX,” Gem Lawrence commented, reflecting on her own experiences with police dogs.
“This is what we should always get from out police force, not the outcome but the care and dedication that went into it .. well done to all concerned and good luck to sonic. X,” said Anne Dunwell.
Being only a few days into night shifts – his first night ending in him successfully catching a suspect after reports of car break-ins – its proving a to be a busy introduction for our four-legged officer.
