Chris Dobey will seek back-to-back wins on the second night of the 2023 Premier League darts in Cardiff on Thursday night.
Dobey defeated Peter Wright, Nathan Aspinall and Michael van Gerwen on night one as the Geordie emerged victorious on his first ever appearance in the competition.
Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton were both eliminated after their first matches in Belfast but will be motivated to put on a better showing in their home country tonight.
Price is set to take on last week’s victor Dobey in the quarter-final, while Clayton will face world champion and world number one Smith.
Round-up of matches on night two:
- Michael Smith v Jonny Clayton
- Nathan Aspinall v Peter Wright
- Gerwyn Price v Chris Dobey
- Michael van Gerwen v Dimitri van den Bergh
The winner of the Smith v Clayton will face the winner of Aspinall v Wright, likewise for the other two matches on the night, before the winners of the two semi-finals will battle it out in the final.
MVG is the bookmaker’s favourite to emerge victorious on night two and is as short as 7/4 in places. Smith and Price are the next best fancied to win in Wales, along with Snakebite.
Winner of week two Premier League:
- Michael van Gerwen – 7/4
- Michael Smith – 7/2
- Gerwyn Price – 5/1
- Peter Wright – 11/2
- Jonny Clayton – 9/1
- Dimitri van den Bergh – 14/1
- Chris Dobey – 14/1
- Nathan Aspinall – 14/1
While it is still early in the tournament, van Gerwen is the current favourite to win the trophy at 9/5 in places.
MVG has won the competition six times which is the joint most along with legend Phil Taylor, and an upturn in form over the past 12 months will mean the Dutchman will be confident of breaking the Power’s record come May.
The action will be aired on Sky Sports main event and Sky Sports darts, from 7.P.M.
