Bristol City have been linked with a move for former Cheltenham Town winger Marley Watkins as they look to boost their promotion bid.
The 27 year-old Welsh winger spent his youth career as a Swansea City player, before making the switch to Cheltenham Town in 2008. He went onto make 26 appearances in three seasons for the Robins, scoring on one occasion.
Watkins also had a spell in Scotland with Inverness Caledonian Thistle between 2013 and 2015, before moving to Yorkshire-based Championship outfit Barnsley in 2015. He moved to the Canaries in 2017 and has so far, made seven appearances in East Anglia.
Lee Johnson, the son of Gary Johnson is reportedly keen on a move for the winger as Bristol City aim for promotion to the Premier League this season, as they currently sit in fifth in the Championship – five points adrift of the automatic promotion spots.

Earlier in the week, the Robins were involved in the Carabao Cup, where they were defeated 5-3 on aggregate by runaway Premier League leaders, Manchester City. Despite the loss, Gary Johnson was proud of his son’s sides efforts.
He said:
“There has been a lot of publicity for Lee, I went to the two games and enjoyed them. It is the same feeling from sitting in the stands, as it is down in the dugout – especially when your son is down there, trying to cut out a career for himself.
I am very proud of what he’s done and what the team is done. The big thing about Bristol City is how its showing it’s getting ready for the Premier League – the atmosphere on the day was fantastic.”
Marley also has a singular Wales cap to his name, having played in the 1-1 draw with Panama in 2017. Over the past few years, Marley has showcased his abilities, and by moving to Bristol City, he could see his meteoric rise through the leagues continue.
