Forest Green Rovers manager Mark Cooper has said that the squad players at the club need to “fight really hard” in order to earn a place in the first-team squad.
This could be good news for players such as midfielder Drissa Traore, who has recently been linked with a move away.
Traore joined the Green Devils back in June 2016, signing a two-year contract and linking up with his former boss Mark Cooper at Swindon Town. The Ivorian has been an ever-present in the side since joining in 2016, making 50 appearances for Rovers so far.
He said that, “The boys that are not in the team at the minute, with the players that we’ve got, they’ve got to fight really hard. In training everyday and when they’ve got an opportunity, they’ve got to fight to get in the squad.”
However, Cooper did admit that it is not down to him whether a player at the club leaves or not:
“That’s not up to me, it up to whether the clubs that come in for the player are available at the moment.”
?MC:” in terms of out goings it’s not up to me it’s to do with other clubs and it’s out of my hand”
