There was no success for Cheltenham Town or Forest Green Rovers in the League Two Manager and Player of the Month Awards that were announced this morning.
Both Gloucestershire clubs enjoyed rewarding Februarys as both the Robins and the Greens won four of their five fixtures to establish themselves in the top three of the fourth tier.
That saw Cheltenham boss Michael Duff as well as Forest Green duo Mark Cooper and Jamille Matt nominated for the awards by the EFL.
One of the most notable results across the month came as Sean Long’s winner secured all three points for the Whaddon Road side at fellow high-fliers Cambridge.
Also in February, Forest Green came through a seven-goal thriller against Oldham and survived a tricky trip to Newport unscathed, making Cooper and Matt deserving nominees.
Experienced striker Matt bagged five goals across the month, including a brace at home to Colchester in a comfortable 3-0 victory.
Only Bolton Wanderers picked up more points than them in February, taking 16 points from six games.
That was rewarded in the announcement this morning as Ian Evatt and Ricardo Santos took the Manager and Player awards respectively.
The Trotters have climbed into play-off contention, but it will be difficult for them to leapfrog Gloucestershire’s two outfits.
The Robins continued their form into March, winning their first two, but suffered defeat to Mansfield on Tuesday.
Forest Green dropped points against an impressive Morecambe side, but Matt has also scored twice this month so could be nominated once again.
The League Two promotion battle will continue to move along at a relentless pace this weekend as Cheltenham travel to Exeter while Rovers host Harrogate.
