In-form West Brom boss Carlos Corberan in the running for West Ham job as David Moyes pressure heightens

West Bromwich Albion manager Carlos Corberan is reportedly on West Ham United’s shortlist as they look to plan ahead as pressure grows on current boss David Moyes.

The Spaniard has helped the Baggies undergo an impressive transformation since taking over, winning eight of their last nine EFL Championship games.

Meanwhile, Hammers chief Moyes is facing contrasting fortunes in East London, with just one win in their last eight Premier League matches.

And as pressure grows on the Scotsman, Corberan seems to be making his way upwards in the pecking order of targets should Moyes lose his job in the near future.

Corberan impressing at Albion

The former Huddersfield Town boss has enjoyed a fruitful start to life at The Hawthorns, only losing twice during his reign so far.

Albion have undergone a remarkable transformation since he took charge following Steve Bruce’s sacking.

The veteran manager’s time at the club will not be fondly remembered after winning a measly 25% of his games at the club.

Corberan took over when the Baggies were bottom of the Championship, but at the time of writing, they seem odds-on for a playoff spot.

Currently perched just outside the top six, the Spaniard has helped rejuvenate the atmosphere at the West Midlands club amidst off-the-field issues.

He appears to have got a tune out of the same set of players that looked devoid of any confidence under the former boss.

Like Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick, it is unsurprising that Corberan has been touted for Premier League jobs after similar transformations.

Hammers boss Moyes begins to falter

After a mixed time in charge of West Ham so far, Moyes appears to be losing the faith of the supporters at the London Stadium.

Last season the Scotsman lead the Hammers to a Europa League semi-final, where they were defeated by Eintracht Frankfurt.

But their fans’ memory seems to be fairly short-sighted after that European run.

Moyes’ start to the season has been rather underwhelming, sitting just one place outside of the relegation zone and level on points with Everton – who perch just below them.

Even though big-money signings were made in the summer, including Gianluca Scamacca and Lucas Paqueta, the Hammers have still struggled to generate consistency.

It remains to be seen how long Moyes has left at the helm, having been sacked from the club just a year before being reappointed by the same board.

But Corberan seems to be highly thought of by the West Ham board if a change is to be made.
