Havant look to continue their promotion hunt on Saturday as Taunton travel to the Westleigh in a match the Hawks will be favourites for. Havant are now 14 points off the league leaders Ebbsfleet, but have two games in hand. Taunton won the reverse fixture 2-0 at the Cygnet Health care stadium on the 31st of January.
A win will take Havant two points behind second place Dartford, however only top of the league will be automatically promoted, and even with 15 games remaining the title seems out of reach but promotion to The highest division of non-league is still very much on the cards.
The Hawks star striker Muhammadu Faal has scored 15 league goals so far this season and is a key part in the potentially highest finishing Havant side since 2020. Faal said this going into the game “ We had a good result on the weekend winning 3-0, we all needed it and we’re in good spirits, just working on how to play against Taunton, we will play a back five, and find the best way to get at them.”

“The defeat against them last time hurt us as a club and as players, we want to put that right and show ourselves that what happened was a blip”. Havant have only won two of their last 5 League games and have slipped in their chase for promotion.
Taunton Town won the Isthmian Non-League Premier Southern south division last year but have struggled to replicate that form in the next league up. Sitting 17th with as many wins as they have losses.
Faal doesn’t believe it’s a match for revenge but that “we weren’t at the races and want to prove we are better than that.” In Taunton’s first visit to the Westleigh since 2019.
Next up after this game Havant will travel away to Bath City, who sit 13th at this moment in time. Meanwhile Taunton host Oxford City on the 21st of February.
