Great British Age Group Triathlete Adam Blackmore has explained the positive effect the University of Gloucestershire had on his journey to the European Triathlon Multisport Championships.
Blackmore is a university graduate and now is the University of Gloucestershire’s UK Postgraduate Marketing and Student Recruitment Manager. He proudly donned a GB vest at the 2024 Europe Triathlon Multisport Championships in Coimbra, Portugal in June.
“They’ve been really supportive,” Blackmore began. “The sports therapy guys were brilliant. There were a few occasions during winter training where I had a few niggles, calves particularly, from the amount of training I was doing.
“I’m not getting any younger, so I went along to quite a lot of sessions where they did a mix of massage, sort of diagnosing where I had an issue, giving me exercises to go away and address those issues myself. It was massively beneficial for me to have that support, the university even gave me UOG kit!”
Clare Marchant, Vice-Chancellor of the University stated after his selection last year that she was “extremely proud of Adam for being selected to represent GB at the Europe Triathlon Multisport Championships in Portugal.
“It’s a fabulous achievement and hopefully his incredible commitment and dedication to getting up to train in the very early hours virtually every day will be rewarded with a hugely enjoyable and rewarding experience.”
