Havant and Waterlooville travel away to 21st placed Chippenham Town after back-to-back victories in the league. Chippenham have not won a league game since the end of September so Havant will be hoping that they can pile on the pressure on Gary Horgan’s team.
Havant put five past Dulwich Hamlet in their last game, with yet another goal scored by striker, Muhammadu Faal. The former Bolton striker has scored nine in his 17 games this season. Helping to push Havant closer to the automatic promotion places.
Faal claimed he “wants to score more headers” after scoring one against Hemel Hempstead to solidify a Havant win, he believes as a taller striker he needs to add more in the air to his game. Faal doesn’t believe he’s scored a goal with his head “in a couple of years”
Faal is enjoying life in Portsmouth as the fans seemingly love him, chanting his name in a recent fixture, “I don’t really notice it when I’m on the pitch but off of it it’s nice knowing the fans are appreciating you.” a good goal scoring return in recent weeks is definitely adding to the buzz around the club currently, as well as the good results and league position.
The Hawks have all three of their next fixtures away, so the in-form Havant side will want to continue their goal scoring ways against a team with a poor defensive record. The four hour round trip for the Portsmouth based side will make it a must win for the players and the fans, who will be expecting a positive result despite being on the road.
Chippenham have found something to celebrate though, after making the second round of the FA Cup with a home victory over Lincoln City. They will face Burton in the next round and will be hoping to regain some form ahead of that game. The Bluebirds proved anything can happen in the non-League pyramid – Horgan’s side will give Havant and Waterlooville a tough game despite a worrying run of results and performances.
The two sides come into the game in vastly different situations, with Chippenham having lost four of their last five comparing poorly to Havant with only one defeat and three wins in their last five. A win for Havant could take them up to first, if results go their way. Faal believes they just need to “focus on results and see where we are come the end of the season” and that it’s important not to get carried away and get their jobs done.
Chippenham have the least goals scored in the National League South this season with a dismal 12 goals in 16 games. They face Eastbourne Borough in their next league game. Havant face Tonbridge away in the next league game on the 26th of November.
