Gloucestershire based snooker player Jack Lisowski knocked out of Wuhan Open 2023

Professional snooker player from Churchdown, Gloucestershire, Jack Lisowski who is best known for his attacking style of play was knocked out of the Wuhan Open quarterfinals.

Lisowski faced rival Mark Allen who unlike him, safely made it through to the Wuhan Open quarterfinals after outpowering Lisowski by a 5-2 victory, where he reaches his first quarter-final ranking of the season.

The Glostonian had a strong positive start to the game where he challenged his opponent with a sublime break of 118, however minutes later Allen fired back to take the next four frames and move into a 4-1 lead.

Allen made a break of 54 allowing him to move level before coming out on top after an exchange to go 2-1 ahead, he showcased his skills in frames four and five with clearances of 76 and 61.

However, Lisowski fought back with an excellent break of 79, where Allen failed to get a point in the sixth frame. The match came to an end in the seventh frame after another safety battle went in Allen’s favour.

Both Allen and Lisowski are familiar with each other in the competitive environment, as this is not the first time both have competed against one another.

In November, at the 2022 UK Championship Lisowski reached the semi-finals, but lost 6-5 to Mark Allen. In the 2023 World Grand Prix he once again lost in a decider to Mark Allen, at the quarter final stage by the scoreline of 5-4.

Despite exit out of the Wuhan Open, Lisowski had a strong start to the Wuhan Open where he was pushed by Scott Donaldson in the Wuhan first-round clash.

The 31-year-old edged past Donaldson after securing a 5-3 win in China, where the contest will be best remembered for the world NO.13 who got the job done.

Donaldson drew first, despite the several missing chances to winning early on which allowed for Lisowski a chance to steal the match.

Lisowski had responded in style in that match where Lisowski crucially levelled the scores and showing his best form, after an impressive break of 83 saw him move 3-2 ahead.
