Gloucester lock Tom Savage congratulates Scott Lawson on 6-Nations recognition

Gloucester second row Tom Savage has congratulated ex-team mate Scott Lawson following his Scotland recall.
Lawson has not played International Rugby in 4 years but has made the 40 man pool for the Six-Nations.

Savage said: “It’s no surprise there, as they prove that age is only a number, they are picking on form it is obviously the right selection.”

The 36-year-old left Kingsholm in 2012 and hasn’t featured for Scotland since 2014. But his recent impressive form Newcastle Falcons side has seen him rewarded with a call-up. The 6-Nations will be a great opportunity for Lawson to add to his 46 caps, the first of which he reiceived back in 2005.

Lawson has been to two world cups with the Scotland side scoring his only international try against Portugal in 2007.

Former Gloucester captain Greig Laidlaw was also included in the Scottish squad who kick-off their 6-Nations campaign against Wales at the Principality Stadium on February 3rd.

Current Gloucester players Ross Moriarty and Owen Williams set to feature in that game following the inclusion in the Wales squad for both men.

Tom Savage was speaking ahead of Gloucester’s crucial Challenge Cup encounter against Pau at Kingsholm on Friday night. The Cherry and Whites will need to beat the visitors by seven points to ensure a home quarter final for a fourth successive year.
