Formula One: FIA outline plan for ongoing inquiry into last years Abu Dhabi’s Grand Prix

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the end of last season provided us with an immense amount of controversy.

With the situation still evolving, yesterday we received another update.

Lewis Hamilton will have to wait for two months for the decision on Abu Dhabi to be revealed on the 18th of March.

The 2022 season-opening race in Bahrain takes place just two days later.

Hamilton had an eighth world title taken away from his grasp as FIA race director, Michael Masi, applied the rules wrongfully and enabled Max Verstappen to claim the title on the last lap.

The FIA will be holding meetings with Formula 1 teams sporting directors and drivers.

What they find from this will then be presented to F1 bosses.

A factor that has heightened the planned process is Lewis Hamilton’s decision to wait until the results of the inquiry are released to decide whether he makes the return to F1.

It seems as though Hamilton has lost trust in the governing body, but there is no certainty on which way he is currently leaning.

Pre-season testing begins on the 23rd of February so we will have to see a decision from Hamilton by then.
