It has been announced that Forest Green Rovers Women’s head coach Neil Moore has left his role at the club with immediate effect.
Moore took over at the start of the 2022/23 season, with Tom Needham previously leading on an interim basis after the departure of former head coach Chris Hicks’ in January 2022.
Following his departure, Moore spoke to the club website, stating that: “Unfortunately, due to other commitments I can no longer give the team the attention it deserves.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the team and thank them for welcoming me and putting the effort in on the pitch. I wish them all the best for the remainder of the season.”
Forest Green Rovers’ Head of Women’s Football David Hennessy added: “We are genuinely sad to see Neil go, but we understand his reasons for doing so. From the outset, Neil has set about instilling an ethos and ethic in the team that has helped us to be where we are.
“He has helped develop players and coaches, and we will seek to sustain these values and standards for the remainder of the season. The Club has every confidence in Tom and Dave to build upon their continued success from this weekend’s win.”
The aforementioned Needham will take up the role of head coach, having already taken charge of the team on the weekend against Ilminster Town. He will be supported by David Francis, who has been appointed as assistant head coach.
Next up for Rovers is a trip to Bishops Lydeard Ladies on November 27th.
