Manchester United extended their unbeaten run to 13 games (10 wins, 3 draws) after their win against Fulham last night. The win sent them back on top of the Premier League table, albeit with an extra game played.
Fulham had a bright start to the game, scoring just five minutes into the first half thanks to a clever goal from Ademola Lookman, but the lead wasn’t to last for too long as Edinson Cavani equalised for the visitors 15 minutes later, before Paul Pogba’s second half goal sealed the win for United.
Here’s five things we learned.
Paul Pogba continues red hot form
Paul Pogba has been under immense scrutiny ever since his £89m move from Juventus in 2016. The Frenchman has always been under the radar regarding his inconsistent form, but after scoring his second goal in three games, the midfielder is in arguably his best form since making the switch.
His goal turned out to be the winning goal once again to send the Reds back on top of the league table.
After his agents recent comments about his time being over at United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has continued placing his faith in the Frenchman and is now reaping the rewards for it.
Big month coming up for Fulham
Fulham are in the bottom three and are doing everything they can to get out of the danger zone. They’ve played nine of the top ten in their last 11 fixtures and have put in some impressive performances in that time, notably their 1-1 draws against Liverpool and Tottenham.
However, their next two league games are against Brighton and West Bromwich Albion and these are the games they definitely need to get something out of, if they are to pick up any sort of form.
Edinson Cavani, Manchester United’s signing of the season
Edinson Cavani was a surprise signing for many Manchester United fans. The Uruguayan was signed by the club on deadline day to mixed reactions.
The South American almost immediately put all doubts aside after his brace in a 3-2 comeback win against Southampton. His goal last night was his fifth for the club and each of his goals so far have come in winning causes.
Cavani is currently on a one-year deal at Manchester United, and it’s looking more and more likely that the club extends his stay for another season.
Ademola Lookman Fulham’s shining star
The young Englishman joined Fulham on a season long loan from Leipzig to add a different dimension to Scott Parker’s side.
After a slow start, he’s now enjoying life at Craven Cottage, scoring three goals and providing as many assists so far this season. Parker was full of praise for Lookman after last night’s game saying he did “remarkably well”.
Ademola Lookman has been involved in more Premier League goals than any other Fulham player this season (6).

Manchester United’s away record continues
Manchester United are now unbeaten in 17 Premier League away games (12 wins, 5 draws), a feat they last achieved in the treble-winning 1998/99 season.
It’s a run that goes back over a year. Their last away loss in the league was at Anfield in January 2020.
In addition, United’s unbeaten run is currently the best of any side in Europe’s top five leagues. Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been quiet regarding his side’s title ambitions this season, but his side’s away form is definitely championship worthy.
