Former Bristol City player Micky Mellon has agreed a deal with Oldham Athletic as their new manager after Steve Thompson and Neil Redfearn have left their positions as interim managers.
Mellon played for Bristol 35 times over the course of four years and spent one year with both West Brom and Kidderminster Harriers playing 87 times across the three clubs.
Micky Mellon who also played for West Brom and Kidderminster Harriers is well known in the region of Gloucester but will be setting of up north in preparation for his next chapter, Mellon is well experienced managing a total of 695 matches with two standout stints being at Fleetwood Town and Tranmere Rovers, such as claiming victory in the National League and League two play offs with Tranmere and a Conference Premier title with Fleetwood.
Perhaps the highlight of his managerial career was guiding Shrewsbury Town to promotion from League Two.
