“Everything’s going good” – Kirstie Bavington on moving into 2023 as EBU European Welterweight Champion.

Dudley boxer Kirstie Bavington enjoyed a successful 2022 with two wins from two in the professional boxing scene.

The British Boxer’s first fight was against Timea Belik for the EBU European Welterweight championship, in which the 30-year-old defeated the Hungarian brute which record Bavvo’s first ever professional championship belt.

The second fight Kirstie was faced against the undefeated German, Naomi Mannes. Bavington described the fight as “challenging” as she has “never defended a championship belt before.”

“She couldn’t feel any better” about her success and opened a “pathway” for other women to “prove the media wrong.”

The female rights campaigner mentioned that she was “more scared of the pressure then the fighter”, this talk would eventually pay off still as she managed to present Mannes with her first ever professional loss.

The local Dudley hero went on to talk about the “challenges” 2023 will bring as she’s expecting that she “should be out again the end of March”, with the challenger still remaining unknown for now.

“The main objective is to stay champion throughout this year” as Bavington looks to push her career to the next “level” as the sponsorships and media grow around the ‘so called’ next Nicola Adams.

“I’m training twice a day, until a find the right fighter” Kirstie exclaims as she’s looking for a worthy competitor for the EBU belt who will give her a “physically demanding fight” with the 7-2 BoxRec fighter believes there is still “plenty more of Kirstie Bavington to show.”

Bavvo Before Her Championship Win

With a 18% knockout rate Bavvo is looking to bring the “scare factor” into her game for the future defence of the title, as she believes some people “believe they can play the long game” when it comes to fighting the Pensnett based boxer.

“I’ve been keeping the weight down and getting the rounds in” as Kirstie explains she is trying to get rid of her stereotypical “orthodox” stance to also bring an element of “surprise” with her punching combinations, due to the fact the “more experienced boxers study these kind of things.”

Worst case scenario for the “inform” boxer is she “keeps fighting and progressing within myself”, which in reality “won’t happen” as she is confident to keep on “reciprocating success” like she has in 2022 “year in, year out.”
