Cheltenham Town have confirmed their first signing of the summer, acquiring experienced centre-half Johnny Mullins from Luton Town on a 2-year deal.
Mullins made 22 appearances for Nathan Jones’ side in 2017/18, but was not offered a contract extension that would see him return to League One for the first time since 2010.
The 32-year old began his career at Reading but spent a lot of time on loan, having spells with Kidderminster Harriers, Oxford United and Stockport County.
Mullins told Cheltenham Town’s website: “I’m really excited to get it all agreed and I’m looking forward to a new challenge and a new season with Cheltenham,
“I’ve spoken to the gaffer at length about his plans and I want to be a part of that. It’s a good set-up and hopefully we can achieve what we have discussed and have a really successful season.
“I’ve had a brilliant time at Luton and it was great to get promoted. But I’m coming here to do it again and have big ambitions that I want to achieve here.”
This is Gary Johnson’s second summer signing, after confirming the signature of former Tottenham Hotspur prospect Alex Addai on a one year deal.
Johnson does not want to finish there either, having already stating back in February that he plans on making a bunch of free signings for the 18/19 season.

“Signing Johnny is a real coup for us and a statement about our intentions. He is a leader and winner,” boss Gary Johnson told the club’s website.
“He played a big role in Luton’s push for promotion and is a talented centre-back with good leadership qualities.”
