Cirencester Town manager John Brough says he is not expecting a box office clash as his side take on Frome Town in a top of the table bout.
They travel to Badgers Hill in Somerset where they will attempt to de-thrown the current league leaders, who are top by just the one point in the Southern League division one south.
Despite both sides being top of the table and firing on all cylinders, Brough reflects on previous meetings between the clubs as he predicts a cagey affair. When the teams met back in September, they saw out a 1-1 draw that left Cirencester frustrated.
Speaking to ParkLife Sport, Brough reflected on the Larkhall Athletic draw saying: “It was very similar to Tuesday night actually, we scored early and then they scored in the last minute to make it 1-1, I think we just have to see games through, right to the final whistle.
“Concentration levels when you get tired dip a little bit, maybe we just have to freshen it up with 20 minutes to go, get some fresh legs on there.”
Much like their recent midweek draw against Larkhall, the Centurions controlled the ball for most of the game before conceding late on.
Cirencester will be the more confident coming off the back of an eight-game unbeaten streak, winning six and drawing twice, a run that extends back to November.
“Yesterday we did a lot of work in the classroom just talking about them and we watched them last week, so we’re just going through their strengths and weaknesses and now we’re going to go about our game plan. We took it out onto the pitch to put it into practice so hopefully, we can firstly stop them from being dangerous, because they are and then hopefully get our game going as well.” Said Brough when asked about how his side have been preparing for the tie.
Ben Whitehead, who was on target against the Larks, had an injury concern raised after he was subbed off in the second half. Brough has since revealed that Whitehead did not train with the team on Thursday night, however, the injury does not look serious.
“We rested him last night in training so he’s the only one who may be in doubt, but otherwise we should have a fully fit squad for a very difficult game.” Added Brough.
The game will take place at the home ground of Frome Town, Badgers Hill (3pm).
