Cheltenham is to get its first-ever escape room.
Later this month, people will be able to fight their way out of a pop-up locked room at Coronation Square.
The venue will be the latest in a long line of such attractions across the world where people are given a 60 minute time limit to think their way out of detailed themed situations.
Escape Rooms Cheltenham will be launching on the 27/28th of January, this first weekend will be for local businesses to give it a go!
Megan and her team are hoping that the escape rooms will help bring more people to Coronation Square to help support local businesses, as the area has a “terrible reputation.” They want to show people it’s not a bad place.
The first room will be themed around GCHQ, where participants will be spies will the task of getting back the Crown Jewels, the second a Murder Mystery and the third, A Day at the Races.
Megan created all the rooms, puzzles and themes with input from her team. With her experience as a business developer, she hopes to bring some knowledge from this into the escape rooms. She said: “It was a lengthy design process but I’ve really enjoyed doing it.”
The rooms are accessible to anyone from business groups (team building), to families and children from the ages of 11/12.
The idea is, all the groups that are taking part on that weekend will be competing against each other. So the aim is to escape from the room within the 60 minutes. If you don’t manage to achieve this you’ll be further down the leader board.
The price is £40 for 4 people at a time. In the future they are hoping to expand to 6 people.
We went to see Megan earlier today to find out more about it…
