Cheltenham’s driving ace Zak O’Sullivan is set to begin his Japanese racing series campaign

Cheltenham-raised racing driver, Zak O’Sullivan starts his new journey competing in the Super Formula Championship in Japan next weekend.

The 20 year-old who previously competed in Formula two and served as a test driver for Williams, has set his sight on a new challenge. O’Sullivan will begin his Super Formula campaign with Kondo Racing next Saturday.

The former BRDC Young Driver of the Year said: “this is a move I’m incredibly excited about. It’s a lifeline for my career.

It is going to be a big change for me, getting used to racing in a new country with a different culture, against a grid of drivers who are very experienced in these cars.

However, it’s a route often taken by drivers following F2 and I have every confidence I can get up to speed quickly and show my worth.”

O’Sullivan will race in Japan alongside his duties as a simulator driver for Formula E team Envision. The young Brit also undertook a rookie test in Jeddah with the FE team last week before flying out to Japan to prepare for his debut Super Formula campaign.

You can watch Zak in action at the first round of the Super Formula season in Suzuka on Friday the 7th of March on Apple TV and Motorsport TV.
