Liam Kinsella believes Cheltenham Town can go on another unbeaten run after a set back against MK Dons last weekend, and will be eyeing up three points against Tranmere Rovers tonight.
The Robins ended a seven game unbeaten run after a late crumble away to promotion chasing MK Dons, a game where they went two goals up but went on to lose 3-2.
“I mean when you go 2-0 up it’s always difficult to lose the game, especially after another good performance from the team. We had a good seven game unbeaten run and it could have been eight. Like I said, we can go on another unbeaten run but it’s just disappointing to be 2-0 up against any team and then lose the game but we’ve learnt from it and hopefully it won’t happen again.”
Tonight sees Cheltenham Town host Tranmere Rovers in a lower half of the table clash where every point is vital, Kinsella has had multiple clashes against The Rovers before.
“Every time I’ve played them they’ve been a tough side, I have played them many times now. They have got many good players, some that I have played with and some I have played against. It will be a tough clash like most in our league but the fans have been excellent home and away so hopefully that can continue.”
It’s a Friday night under the lights at the EV Charger Points Stadium, and Kinsella will be hoping that the fans will give their usual backing in tonight’s clash.
“At home we’ve managed to get in front and the fans have been excellent, it’s really kicked us on and helped the run we’ve been on, so hopefully we can get an early goal.”
“There’s nothing better in football than walking out under the lights, we’re expecting another good crowd and you look forward to that, especially if we can get a win and then have a good weekend.”
Kinsella joined The Robins in January 2024 under Darrell Clarke, who departed over the summer, and now the midfielder is working with familiar face Michael Flynn who he played under during previous spells at Swindon Town and Walsall.
“I’ve been here for 10 months, the players are great and the staff are great, I’m just loving my football at the minute.”
“I’ve always had a good relationship with the gaffer, his man management skills are fantastic and I couldn’t ask for much more from him.”
Only one point separate Cheltenham Town and Tranmere Rovers in the league table. Three points is crucial to both sides so they can increase their gap to the bottom two.
