Cheltenham Saracens Ladies cruised to a 6-1 victory against bottom of the league Longwell Green Ladies on Sunday.
Vice captain Jordan Burrows sat down with Park Life Sport to discuss this victory, which was the sides first win since the 3rd of December, 2023.
“Overall it was a much needed win to be honest.”
“We knew going into the game that it was a game that we needed to win, I think the second half of the season we’ve been building on a new team, we’ve got a better coaching set up as well and I thought we showed that in the game.”
Saracens have recently upgraded their coaching staff, bringing new members to the set up.
“So we have four coaches overall, we have a goalkeeper coach, we then have our manager Simon and we also have two coaches, Jacoby and Gary.”
“Between the four of them we actually focus on position specific drills in training and you can see that is being implemented into our games now in the second half of the season.”

As a vice captain, Burrows explains how she lifts her teammates and encourages them on the pitch.
“I like to think I’m one of those that is quite positive, I like to focus on the positive elements of the game.”
“I use my experience and it’s just about being that support and being there for my teammates. But now it’s just about working alongside the captain and the coaching staff to try and get as many points as we can.”
With womens football on the rise, Burrows believes that wins like these may help more girls get into the sport.
“I think with it being quite a big result as well, a lot of women and girls coming through, considering the sport may look at the result and think ‘That looks like an exciting game, I might give it a go’ and I think it’s just a great thing for womens football, everyone just wants to play to win of course.”
