Everton are going to be docked 10 points by the Premier League after an independent commission hearing on an alleged breach of Premier League profit and sustainability rules.
This deduction will be applied immediately, meaning The Toffees will drop to 19th in the league standings, above Burnley on goal difference.
The club are expected to appeal this decision, with the club stating they were “shocked and disappointed” with the decision, however it may take some time as to whether the appeal will be successful or denied.
Previously relegated clubs Leeds, Burnley and Leicester have all previously written to Everton’s new owners 777 Partners, warning they intend to sue for damages if Everton are found guilty. All three of these clubs were previously relegated when Everton narrowly survived.
