Paul Collicutt has said that fans will “wait and see” if his side has learned their lesson from last time out against Portishead, as Bishops Cleeve welcomes them to Kayte Lane this weekend.
Last time out, Cleeve’s 12-game league unbeaten run came to an end, as Posset put five past Colly’s men to continue their own strong start to the season.
“It was probably our worst performance of the season; from the time we turned up, it was a disaster. It’s a big game for us and a big game for them, but we’re looking forward to it, and hopefully it will be a good game.”
The Mitres traveled to Bristol last weekend after successive wins against Winchester City and Cheltenham Town reserves, with the latter seeing Cleeve put themselves in the GFA Senior Challenge Cup final against either Forest Green or Yate Town. Recent form has seen Cleeve unbeaten in their last five with three wins and two draws, as the Mitres look to push for the playoffs in the business end of the season.
Noah Rubio impressed again for Colly’s men on Saturday as he curled a free-kick into the top corner in the first half, before Manor Farm got a second-half equaliser to leave Cleeve in sixth due to Shaftesbury’s 3-0 win over Sporting Club Inkberrow.

Speaking on the winger’s impact, Collicutt was happy to see the youngster make the best of his start with the Mitres.
“He’s settled in, and he’s playing football with a smile on his face. Noah is a very committed lad, and he’s started in good fashion. He offers us something different from what we’ve already got, but he wants to be a threat in games for us.”
This is Portishead’s first season in the Southern League South, with two promotions in two seasons, winning the Western Football League Premier Division last season.
This will be Posset’s first-ever trip to Kayte Lane with the visitors currently sitting in third place, winning their last two games against Bideford and Melksham Town.
