Match Preview: Slimbridge look to regain top spot of the Hellenic Premier Division this weekend.

Slimbridge AFC know that a win against Corsham Town could see them rise back to the summit of the Hellenic Premier Division and on course to return to Step 4.

The Swans have lost just one game from thirteen so far this season as they prepare to welcome playoff pushing Corsham to Thornhill Park as they currently sit in third place just one point away from the top spot, whilst also possessing two games in hand over surrounding teams.

The Gloucestershire outfit are in a rich vain of form, winning four of their last five matches in all competitions whilst boasting the best goal difference in the league.

Their only dropped points coming against current table toppers, Roman Glass St George in a 2-2 draw at the end of September.

In their last outing, the Swans progressed into the second round of the FA Vase, beating Wells City by three goals to two last Saturday.

A goal from Raiyan Ahmed as well as a brace from main man Jack W Smith, including a sumptuous half volley to kick off the scoring, helped continue the Swans cup journey.

Smith, is currently the leagues second top goal scorer and sits on fourteen goals already this campaign in all competitions and will be looking to add to his tally on Saturday.

As for the visitors, Corsham Town are also in a great period of form, winning all five of their last five matches, including comprehensive away wins at Pershore Town and Worcester Raiders in the last month.

However, the Quarrymen have already lost four of their first 13 league fixtures so far, something that the pre season promotion favourites will be looking to iron out with the Wiltshire based outfit currently sat in sixth position, just a point and a place out of the playoff positions.

Last weekend saw them progress into the second round of the FA Vase similarly to their upcoming opponents, as goals from Christopher Lines, Lewis Gilchrist and Alexander McCootie helped them achieve a 3-2 victory against Somerset side, Wells City.

The latter, McCootie is the Reds top bagsman so far this season scoring seven goals in fourteen starts so far, averaging a goal every two games.

The visitors have also managed to bolster their ranks just yesterday, signing former Bristol Rovers and Frome Town player, Theo Lynden, the pacey wide player will look to open his account for the club on Saturday as the two in form teams of the Hellenic Premier Division meet at Thornhill Park.

The hosts looking to capitalise on their two games in hand over the current top two to recapture top spot and launch themselves back on course to Step 4 after a couple of years away in the Hellenic Premier Division.
