Swindon Town’s Chiarna Deller confident in a “controlled” 14-0 win in the FA Wiltshire women’s county cup

Swindon Town’s Women’s Development Team took action in the FA Wiltshire Women’s County Cup which saw them take a 14-0 win over Salisbury FC, to take them to the next round.

Chiarna Deller, Devs manager, quoted after the game “it’s nice for us (Devs) to control a game, and it gives them a set of experience that we need as well.”

In what was a very wet and windy game which saw the location of the match changed just hours before kick off, Deller gave credit to Salisbury FC for the performance they gave “they kept playing as well, they didn’t give up and give it their all.”

“We played some nice football as well, especially in a wet and windy day like this,” Deller added on about her team’s performance in the weather conditions they faced that day.

“We won 14-0 imagine what the first team would have done today,” as the Devs played this match for the women’s first team due to them playing another game on the same day just down the road in Chippenham which saw them take victory 2-0. As the Devs team will take over the first two rounds of this cup for the team and give them the experience they need going forward in the season.

This was the highest scoring game for the Devs this season with multiple goal scorers, “Paige Williams got her first goal for the club. Anotoinette Salaveria scored a hat-trick after being out for injury the last two weeks, so that’s good for her to be back and perform like today.”

Play in action

Looking into the Devs upcoming game and they got back to league action on Sunday, October 26th as they travel to Cheltenham Town Ladies Reserves. Ahead of the game Deller commented “going into the weekend against Cheltenham, for us we should win that game.” Showing her confidence in her team.

“They can’t ever tell me they can’t score goals because they just scored 14.” Deller joked when speaking about how the team act going forward in games and training heading back to the league and weekend games.

Looking forward into the next round of the cup and Swindon have been drawn away at Corsham Town in the quarter- final, which the development team is likely to be playing again and getting more experience for the girls going forward with their careers.
